Triggering a MIDI synthesizer with his guitar, usually a Fender Telecaster, Philippe Caillat takes a harmonious, deeply personal, approach to improvisational jazz. Classically trained and thoroughly schooled in European music, he skillfully weaves a unique blend of classical, jazz, avant-garde, and world music influences. A native of Paris, Caillat was raised in Montpelier in southern France. Residing in Germany for nearly three decades, he has taught at the jazz academy in Dortmund since 1997.
